The Scholarship for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans (CSDDV) provides scholarships for dependent children or un-remarried spouses of Florida veterans who have died as a result of service-connected injuries, diseases, or disabilities sustained while on active duty or who have been certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs as having service-connected 100% permanent and total disabilities. CSDDV also provides funds for dependent children whose parent is classified as a prisoner of war or missing in action by the Armed Forces of the United States or as civilian personnel captured while serving with the consent or authorization of the United States Government during wartime service.
The Pat Tillman Foundation’s Tillman Military Scholars Program supports our nation’s active and veteran service members and their families by removing financial barriers to completing a degree or certification program of choice. The scholarships cover not only direct study-related expenses such as tuition and fees, but also other needs, including housing and childcare. The application opens annually each spring and a new class of Tillman Military Scholars is announced each June.
Only one percent of our nation’s eligible population answers the call to serve in the United States Armed Forces, and those that do answer the call put their civilian lives on hold to protect and defend the United States. The Donors of the Colonel Alice A. Kerr Veterans Scholarship feel very strongly about supporting veterans after their military service ends. The Donors know the transition from military service to civilian life can be fraught with many obstacles, including the financial gap between GI benefits and the cost of higher education and they hope to bridge the gap with this scholarship. The Colonel Alice A. Kerr Veterans Scholarship will be awarded to either a graduate or undergraduate University of Miami student with financial need who served their country honorably while on active duty in the United States armed forces. Applicants must submit the current FAFSA and CCS Profile and must complete this application form. Completed applications are due no later than August 1.
